Product Designer UX/UI

Guildford | Onsite

Location: Guildford, Surrey
Working pattern: Full-time, 5 days onsite
Employment type: Permanent

The Opportunity

We’re working with an established and ambitious UK business that is making a significant investment in its technology and digital products.

Our client is looking for a talented Product Designer to join its growing product team and play a key role in designing and improving digital experiences used across the business.

This is a genuinely hands-on position covering the full product design lifecycle, from user research and discovery through to UX/UI design, prototyping, testing and delivery.

You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful design challenges, influence product decisions and work closely with Product Managers, engineers and senior stakeholders.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for designing intuitive, visually engaging and user-centred digital products, combining strong research skills with excellent creative execution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Independently planning and conducting user research, interviews and usability testing to understand user needs and identify opportunities.
  • Translating research findings into clear product recommendations, user journeys and design decisions.
  • Owning the end-to-end design process from discovery and ideation through to high-fidelity UI and delivery.
  • Creating wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes and polished interfaces using Figma.
  • Working with established design systems and developing new components where required.
  • Collaborating closely with Product Managers, developers and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.
  • Presenting and defending design decisions using research, evidence and sound product thinking.
  • Testing and iterating designs based on user feedback, behavioural insights and business requirements.
  • Using AI tools such as Claude and Figma Make to accelerate research, ideation, prototyping and design workflows.
  • Managing multiple design priorities while maintaining a high standard of creative and technical execution.

What We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in Product Designers who can combine strong independent UX research with excellent visual design skills.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • 3+ years of professional Product Design experience, ideally working on digital products, SaaS platforms or complex web applications.
  • Proven experience independently conducting user research, discovery and usability testing.
  • Strong UX/UI design skills with a portfolio demonstrating polished, commercially delivered products.
  • Advanced Figma skills, including prototyping, component libraries and design systems.
  • Experience translating research findings into tangible product improvements and design decisions.
  • Confidence working autonomously, taking ownership of problems and making decisions without requiring constant direction.
  • Experience collaborating with Product Managers, engineers and senior business stakeholders.
  • A good understanding of accessibility, interaction design and user-centred design principles.
  • An interest in AI-assisted design, with practical experience using tools such as Claude, Figma Make or similar.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain the reasoning behind your design decisions.

Experience designing products for complex or highly regulated industries would be beneficial but isn’t essential.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a business with genuine investment in technology and a clear ambition to improve how its industry operates.

You’ll benefit from:

  • The opportunity to influence and shape meaningful digital products.
  • A collaborative product and engineering environment.
  • Exposure to modern AI-assisted design tools and workflows.
  • Established design systems and an existing product function.
  • Private medical insurance and life assurance.
  • Onsite gym facilities and personal training.
  • Complimentary onsite breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks.
  • Generous annual leave with additional Christmas closure.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.

Location

This position is based in Guildford and requires attendance in the office five days per week.

We’re particularly interested in candidates based in Guildford, Surrey and the surrounding areas who can comfortably commute on a daily basis.

Interested?

If you’re a Product Designer who enjoys taking ownership, conducting meaningful user research and turning complex challenges into intuitive, beautifully designed products, we’d love to hear from you.
