We’re working with an early-stage, venture-backed AI startup in San Francisco that is building a new generation of intelligent software for revenue teams. With a small founding team, strong early traction and significant ambitions for the product, they are now looking for a Product Engineer to take real ownership of the customer-facing experience.
This is a particularly good opportunity for an engineer who enjoys the intersection of engineering, product and design and wants considerably more ownership than they would get in a larger organisation.
The Role
You’ll work closely with the founders to design and build the core product, with a particular focus on the frontend and user experience.
This isn’t a role where requirements are simply handed to engineering. You’ll speak directly with customers, understand what they are trying to achieve and turn sometimes ambiguous feedback into intuitive, polished features.
You’ll be expected to think about what should be built as much as how it should be built.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Building and shipping customer-facing features using React and TypeScript
- Owning significant parts of the frontend and overall product experience
- Working directly with customers to understand problems, feedback and feature requests
- Translating loosely defined requirements into well-designed technical solutions
- Taking features from initial idea through design, development and production
- Working across the full stack when required
- Helping shape product direction alongside the founders
- Building AI-powered functionality and integrating LLMs into the product
- Moving quickly while maintaining a high bar for product quality and UX
What We’re Looking For
We’re particularly interested in engineers with around 1–4 years of professional experience who have already demonstrated unusual levels of ownership.
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong React, TypeScript and frontend engineering experience
- A track record of shipping UI-heavy products or features into production
- Strong product instincts and an appreciation for good UI/UX
- Experience in an early-stage or high-growth startup environment
- A strong Computer Science background from a leading university
- Experience working directly with customers or users
- The ability to take ambiguous customer problems and turn them into shipped solutions
- Experience building across the full stack
- Exposure to AI, LLMs, agents or prompt engineering
- A bias towards ownership, speed and getting products into users’ hands
Previous founders, founding engineers and product-minded full-stack engineers are particularly interesting.
