Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Arrangement: Remote-first
About the Opportunity
We’re partnering with a major international technology organisation that is making significant investments in its AI engineering capabilities. With an established global presence and a growing portfolio of enterprise customers, the business is expanding its specialist team focused on delivering real-world AI solutions.
This is an opportunity to join a well-funded technology environment where AI is central to the company’s long-term strategy. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, architects and technical leaders to develop intelligent applications that solve complex business challenges.
The organisation combines the stability and resources of an established global business with the opportunity to work on emerging technologies and modern engineering practices.
The Role
As a Senior AI Forward Deployed Engineer, you’ll take ownership of designing, developing and deploying AI-powered applications within complex enterprise environments.
This is a highly hands-on engineering position that combines software development, applied AI and technical problem-solving. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable, production-ready solutions.
Rather than focusing purely on research or experimentation, you’ll be responsible for delivering AI applications that create measurable operational and commercial value.
You’ll have the autonomy to influence technical decisions, select appropriate technologies and contribute to the development of engineering best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and deploy production-grade AI applications using modern software engineering frameworks.
- Develop intelligent automation solutions incorporating large language models, generative AI and agentic architectures.
- Work directly with enterprise stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI-driven transformation.
- Build scalable backend services, APIs and integrations connecting AI capabilities with existing enterprise systems.
- Develop and implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions, AI agents and orchestration workflows.
- Take technical ownership of projects from initial discovery and prototyping through to deployment and optimisation.
- Work across cloud environments including AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.
- Implement robust monitoring, evaluation, testing and security practices for AI applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable and maintainable software.
- Stay current with developments in AI engineering, tooling and emerging technologies.
Skills and Experience
Essential Requirements
- Strong commercial software engineering experience, ideally 8+ years, with a track record of delivering enterprise applications.
- Advanced programming skills in Python, TypeScript, Java or C#/.NET.
- Practical experience developing or integrating AI-powered applications using large language models.
- Experience building and deploying production software within cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, software architecture and enterprise integrations.
- Experience translating complex business problems into technical solutions.
- Confidence working directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to operate independently and take ownership of delivery.
Desirable Experience
- Hands-on experience with agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph or Semantic Kernel.
- Experience implementing RAG architectures and vector databases.
- Knowledge of LLM evaluation, prompt engineering and AI application observability.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
- Familiarity with enterprise data platforms and complex data integration challenges.
- Previous experience working in technology consulting, professional services or customer-facing engineering environments.
- Experience mentoring engineers or contributing to technical architecture decisions.
What Makes This Opportunity Different?
- Real-world AI engineering: Build and deploy AI systems that are used in live enterprise environments rather than remaining at proof-of-concept stage.
- Technical ownership: Influence architecture, technology selection and engineering approaches.
- Global scale: Work within an established international organisation with significant investment in AI.
- Career development: Join a growing specialist engineering capability with opportunities for technical progression.
- Modern technology: Work with emerging AI frameworks, cloud platforms and advanced automation technologies.
- Remote flexibility: Belfast-based opportunity offering remote-first working arrangements.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary up to £100,000 depending on experience.
- Permanent position within an established international technology organisation.
- Remote-first working arrangement.
- Opportunities to work on complex enterprise AI initiatives.
- Access to ongoing technical development and career progression.
Interested?
If you’re an experienced software engineer who has moved into applied AI or you’re already delivering production-grade AI solutions and want to take greater technical ownership, we’d be keen to hear from you.
